I can't cook. Who cares?

Slogan humour is the most compressed form in this archive: a single line, no image required, and a joke that fits on a shirt, a mug or a sticker. That compression is why the lines outlive the objects they were printed on. Once a phrase works on its own, it gets typed out, re-set in a new font, photographed on a different product and circulated again with no trace of where it started.

For an archive this creates a specific problem. A picture of a slogan is evidence that the phrase was in circulation, not evidence of who wrote it, and the same line usually surfaces on several unrelated products. Entries of this kind are kept for the phrasing itself. The original authors of pictures in this collection are usually unknown.
